Habitat for Humanity Wake County
Mission Statement: Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
Website: www.habitatwake.org/
Project Type: Law Research
Project Description:  As the Triangle grows, we are hearing more and more that our Habitat homeowners are struggling to afford their increasing property taxes. Habitat Wake is exploring policy change around property taxes – both on a local level in Wake County and a state level in North Carolina. To do this, we first need to research what the current laws are, what other efforts have taken place to address the problem, and compile case studies from other states to see what has worked for others.
Project Type: Program Assessment
Project Description:  Assessing the sponsorship model.  Currently, sponsors are linked to a family and a house as they like the direct association with a family and the gratification of working on a single home.  This model reduces flexibility for the organization, especially when we have schedule changes.
