DISI helps graduate students reach outside their departmental barriers and learn how to work with people with different skills, backgrounds, and passions. We need individuals who are logical and creative, systematic and adaptable, and have both depth and breadth. People like you can help push DISI to better fulfill needs of graduate students and the greater community. 

 Co-Presidents (2)
  • Direct DISI’s strategic vision and direction;
  • Serve as the face of the organization, both internally and externally;
  • Manage DISI Executive Directors by holding EDs accountable for deliverables and leading Executive Board meetings;
  • Lead project team selection and matching ;
Strategic Priorities: position DISI for growth by establishing robust systems and processes, institutionalizing best practices, and building strong relationships with partners and funders.

Co-Executive Directors of Marketing & Student Outreach (2)
  • Student Outreach: 
    • Recruit Duke students from across all of the graduate and professional schools to join DISI’s project teams;
    • Develop and manage DISI’s student applications and process;
    • Collaborate with other ED on marketing strategy and ad-hoc projects;
  • Marketing & Communications: 
    • Strengthen DISI’s branding and marketing both on campus and in the community;
    • Develop and distribute DISI’s weekly newsletter;
    • Manage all of DISI’s social media channels and email inbox ;
    • Collaborate with other ED on marketing strategy and ad-hoc projects;
Strategic Priorities: expand student outreach to recruit students from a greater diversity of backgrounds; continue innovating and improving on our marketing materials; strengthen the DISI community and network; establish alumni relationships.

Executive Director of Internal Development (2)
  • Serve as the educational arm of DISI;
  • Plan DISI professional development workshops and training to foster conversations and learning across disciplines;
  • Plan social and networking events to build the DISI community;
  • Responsible for the vision and execution of DISI gatherings, including the End-of-Semester Fall & Spring Showcases;
Strategic Priorities: Enhance the programming of the DISI Kickoff and Showcase events; continue to foster relationships with other student clubs to promote larger events, expand networking opportunities for DISI members and provide skills training.

Co-Executive Directors of Partner Outreach (2) 
  • Partner Recruitment: 
    • Recruit new and existing community partners to acquire new DISI projects;
    • Seek new connections with nonprofit and government organizations, social ventures, and professors interested in working with DISI teams;
    • Develop and manage DISI’s partner applications and process;
  • Partner Management: 
    • Serve as the primary relationship manager and steward for DISI’s partners;
    • Support partner application review process and preliminary scoping of potential projects;
    • Facilitate partner feedback survey and analysis, including a midpoint check-in ;
Strategic Priorities: continue to increase DISI’s presence within the local Durham community and build DISI’s partner network; establish more systematic and sustainable processes for recruiting partners and evaluating projects.

Executive Director of Project Operations (2)
  • Serve as advisors and coaches to Project Managers (PMs);
  • Lead PM training and provide ongoing guidance to help PMs lead successful project teams;
  • Direct and support projects by leading regular bi-monthly meetings, facilitating feedback, managing deadlines;
  • Support the Project Manager and Project Innovator selection process;
  • Provide input to partner and project selection;
Strategic Priorities: continue making improvements to existing tools and processes; develop processes for gathering honest, balanced project feedback from PMs, PIs, and partners.

Executive Director of Finance (1)
  • Serve as advisors to the co-presidents;
  • Manage budget and initiatives taken on by the Executive Board;
  • Oversee applications for grants and funding through the academic term;
  • Manage events and logistical components of planning;
Strategic Priorities: continue making improvements to existing tools and processes; develop processes for more efficient budget balancing.
